Teledyne DALSA: Genie TS and Falcon2 up to 12 Megapixels
14 Oct 2011
According to Teledyne DALSA the new Genie TS camera series offers the most powerful and versatile GigE cameras on the market. Typical applications include traffic/transportation and automated optical inspection of flat panel displays or solar panels.
The latest image sensors for the Genie TS family
Powered by the latest image sensors including Teledyne DALSA's own advanced
CMOS devices, the Genie TS family offers resolutions from 5 megapixels up to
12 megapixels with extremely high quality resolution all with true global
shutter functionality for crisp, smear-free images of high-speed action.
The first three cameras of this series (Genie TS-M4096 with 4096 x 3072 pixels and 12 fps; Genie TS-M3500 with 3520 x 2200 pixels and 19 fps; Genie TS-M2500 with 2560 x 2048 pixels and 29 fps) are presented at this year’s VISION.
High speed data transfer and multi-camera networks
Genie TS also provides remarkable dynamic range. Integrated features like motorised lens control with image-to-image aperture, zoom and focus functionality, auto iris, image compression, image transfer-on-demand, and both RS-485 and RS-232 ports, are all built into a tough compact body of only (49 x 49 x 54)?mm equipped with a GigE Vision compliant, direct to PC, interface making high speed data transfer and multi-camera networks easy to deploy.
New high performance area scan cameras for high precision inspection tasks
Additionally, Teledyne DALSA has announced the Falcon2, a new series of high performance area scan cameras featuring the same sensor as the Genie TS cameras. The series is composed of three GenICam compliant high performance models with CameraLink interface, including the Falcon2 12M, that impresses with a resolution of 12 megapixels and 58?fps. Also the Falcon2?8M, providing a resolution of 8 megapixels and a frame rate of 90 fps, is an excellent camera for fast and high-precision inspection tasks. Last but not least, the Falcon2 4M rounds off this camera family. It provides a resolution of 4?megapixels and a frame rate of 168?fps. According to Teledyne DALSA the corresponding colour versions will be available in the first quarter of 2012. All three models are housed in a remarkably compact, rugged and thermally efficient body, so they need no external cooling system. The Falcon2 series feature in-camera image pre-processing including flat field correction.
Other product innovations at the VISION
At the VISION show in Stuttgart Teledyne DALSA will show a number of other product innovations such as the Spyder 3 line scan camera with CameraLink interface in a new housing with improved mounting options and optimised thermal features. The high-speed Piranha3 16k line scan camera is now available with Full CameraLink interface delivering a resolution of 16000 pixels at a line rate of 40 kHz.
The Canadian company Teledyne DALSA Inc., a subsidiary of the US-based Teledyne Technologies Inc., offers an enormous range of machine vision components for digital image processing. In addition to its line-scan camera products, DALSA´s range includes high-end technologies such as TDI (Time Delay Integration) line-scan cameras, colour line-scan cameras, multi-tap cameras, high-speed cameras, area scan and high-resolution cameras. Their product range also covers PCI frame grabbers, embedded processing systems and software tools, in addition to the IPD range of compact systems that are ideally suited to a wide variety of different tasks in the fields of industrial quality assurance, completeness inspection and fault monitoring.
