The high performance Guppy camera range from Allied Vision Technologies (AVT) represents an ideal solution for newcomers to digital image processing due to its modularity and the excellent value for money it offers.
All the products offer the IEEE-1394a interface
(FireWire) and are particularly well suited to
applications with severe space constraints because of the extremely compact
design (the cameras are also available in board
versions on request).
In addition to the 1/3" CMOS sensor with
global shutter, the colour version offers five variants with
different, highly sensitive CCD sensors. These
cover an enormous range of potential applications
and ensure outstanding colour image quality.
The functionality of the Guppy range includes an external asynchronous trigger input which permits an immediate exposure start without any significant latency plus a large number of "smart features" that can be extremely useful for image processing applications.
One major benefit of this camera series is its flexibility. The separation of the image sensor from the main board allows easy customisation and special OEM versions on request.
