Founded in 1989, Allied Vision Technologies GmbH of Germany is a 100% subsidiary of the public Augusta Technologie AG. AVT designs, produces and sells cameras and components for image processing in industrial and life science applications. With innovative products, superior manufacturing quality and a service-​driven organization, Allied Vision Technologies is well established as a premier provider of digital camera solutions for machine vision worldwide.

From 2001, Allied Vision Technologies underwent fundamental, well-planned, and systematic changes: from being a highly qualified developer and modifier of cameras, the company became a developer and manufacturer of vision components for the world market. Today, AVT is one of a handful of highly specialised suppliers of cameras »Made in Germany«.

In 2008, the acquisition of the Canadian camera manufacturer Prosilica - a leader in GigE Vision cameras was another major step in the implementation of Allied Vision Technologies’ ambitious strategy to become a global market leader in digital cameras for the vision market.

Allied Vision Technologies was one of the first companies to fully back the FireWire digital interface, which has now become the industrial standard – for the simple reason that it is superior to analogue technology in many areas. Because they began using digital technology at such an early stage, the engineers at AVT have built up an unrivalled depth of knowledge in this area. On the other hand, Prosilica is a successful pioneer in the Gigabit Ethernet technology (GigE) as an interface for vision cameras.

Allied Vision Technologies holds 100% of Allied Vision Technologies Inc. (Newburyport, USA) and Prosilica Inc. (Burnaby, Canada).
