Silicon Software microEnable 5: CoaXPress grabber up to 3.6 GByte/s

The new generation of Silicon Software microEnable5 CoaXPress grabbers is based on the PCI Express bus technology and was realised with a PCIe x8 interface according to the PCIe standard version 2.0. With the implementation of Silicon Software‘s DMA3600 technology the practical value of these cards acquiring 3.6 GB/s is only slightly below the theoretical maximum data transfer bandwith of 4 GB/s. This allows not only the necessary maximum of 2.4 GB/s for cameras with 4 CXP-6-connectors, but also sufficient data bandwith for internal image processing or colour reconstruction (CFA Bayer filter).
CoaXPress frame grabber with four BNC inputs
Regarding camera support Silicon Software covers a wide range. For the CoaXPress standard the company developed frame grabbers with four BNC inputs, allowing the acquisition of 600 MB/s (CXP-6) per input. The ports are downward compatible (CXP-1, CXP-2, CXP-3, CXP-5) and can be operated with different camera performance categories e.g. four single port cameras each with one BNC connector, two dual port cameras with two BNC connectors or one quad port camera with four BNC connectors thereby achieving the specified maximum bandwidth of 2.4 GB/s .
The new microEnable?5 cards will soon be fully supported by our software library Common Vision Blox. In the future the VQ8-CXP V-grabber microEnable 5 5 will be available to enable pre-processing directly on the board.
