Machine vision is a dynamic field: STEMMER IMAGING and our suppliers are the world´s leading manufacturers for machine vision components and solutions, introducing many brand new developments several times a year.
They’re already widely used in offices or at ticket vending machines, but they’re only known to insiders within the industry: documents, cards or bank notes are often read and checked by scanners. Mitsubishi Electric has responded to the needs of the industry and has made this technology available for production, with the launch of a high-speed version of its Contact Image Sensor (CIS), distributed under the name Mitsubishi Electric Line Scan Bar.
The packaging industry is facing great challenges. Personalisation instead of industrial mass production is one of the trends in almost every application area. Regardless of whether packaging is used in the medical or food sector, for cosmetics or in other industries: They all require machine configurations that can change and quickly adapt, at the press of a button. Mechanical engineers in the packaging industry greatly benefit from the huge variety of possibilities offered by STEMMER IMAGING, Europe’s largest imaging technology provider, thanks to its comprehensive range of components and services.
Witten-based OCS GmbH is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of production-integrated film inspection systems. Up to ten cameras operate side by side in scalable systems enabling production speeds of up to 1,200 metres per minute. Machine vision components from STEMMER IMAGING make up the optical solution.

The new Mitsubishi Electric CX series of high-speed Contact Image Sensors (CIS) offer a compact, distortion-free alternative to line scan cameras. The sensors allow the scanning of surfaces at speeds up to 1000 m per minute distortion-free right up to the edges.
The Mitsubishi Electric KD range of contact image sensors has been further extended with the addition of high-speed monochrome versions. The monochrome versions operate at scan speeds of 1.8 m/s at 600 dpi, twice the speed of the colour models. Monochrome and colour models with no integral lighting have also been introduced for applications that require back lighting rather than incident lighting.
STEMMER IMAGING will be showing the Contact Image Sensor (CIS) from Mitsubishi
Electric. This is the latest in document reading technology and can be used to
scan labels, instruction leaflets and medical packaging in full colour to
check for print defects, colour defects or logo defects.
The unique combination of the Mitsubishi Electric Contact Image Sensor (CIS)
with STEMMER IMAGING’s CVB Flex Inspect print and pattern inspection tool
greatly improves security print inspection and verification, especially on
Mitsubishi Electric Europe has chosen STEMMER IMAGING as strategic partner for
the distribution of Mitsubishi Electric Europe´s Contact Image Sensors (CIS)
throughout Europe. STEMMER IMAGING will show a first demo system with a CIS
product at VISION 2012.
